Summer Time posted by: RoYaLe

I want to apologize to everyone for the delay in updates. Thats because its summer time and everyones been more busy enjoying whats off the computer. I cant lie, and say I didnt have a good time getting away from matches for a bit. Not to mention this past weekend was my graduation ceremony, so I hardly could make time to pub. I hope everyone is enjoying their summers, and I just want everyone to know I m back at the recruiting scene again. We have some tryouts lined up this weekend and we are hoping to bring some more starting quality players on board for the 6v team. Please check the forums for further details.

Lastly, I have updated the rosters once more. I moved decimus, das and safe over to the inactive list because of the summer scheduling. We shouldnt expect anymore inactiveness from anyone else. If anything, we will be gaining new members from here. I m looking forward to building a strong roster for our 6v team.

As the months of summer approach, I just want to remind everyone to make sure they have the proper cooling in place on their systems. Make you dust out those video / cpu fans. Fans that dont run can cause some lock up issues. Just a friendly reminder from your leader.

As we wrap up our 8v8 duties, I would like to announce that this week we will have our final match in STA 8v8. This match will be played on as roster permits basis. Darkstar announced today he will focus on 6v6 in his clan Famous. Also z3ph and Jun have been placed on inactive for the long term. We are definitely going through a transition from 8v8 to 6v6, so the team is going to be reshaped and remolded.

We have been scriming 6v6, and on last thursday we faced off against TR in a friendly scrim. We lost the first match on Badlands 4-0, then returned the favor 4-0 against them on granary. Team chemistry and rosters will take time to build. But our overall goal is to compete in the upcoming CAL season and eventually proceed to other leagues such as TGL 6v6 and CEVO. GL and everyone hang tight and keep recruiting quality talent.

During preprac against the makeup vs TJ, we knew that something was not right. We were missing our 7th, and it was a sure forfeit until Jun showed up with 10 minutes before the match. Also the day before, we had 2 different starters playing in the scrim that we could not use in the match. Without excuses, we were able to still play TJ competitvely for 2 rounds. Rd1 started with a strong offensive output and power strugle between two teams to get the first cap. WU had a scout rush that was constantly pressuring each point, however the ubers were just not timed correctly to defend off the players for us to advance. We were down 1-0 after 15 mins of play, and ended up losing the rd at 4-1 after a change of strategy. RD2 was basically our playoff hopes on the line. We had to win this rd either 3-1 or 4-0 to even have a chance. TJ quickly ended the hopes by capping 1-0. The second capture came much later, however it was too little too late. The rd ended at 2-0 and TJ winning with a total score of 6-1. After this loss, it means our playoff hopes of competiting in the GOLD division are slim to none. Ever since our loss vs Rev6, our play has been on the decline. This can be attributed to players not being able to dedicate themselves to the entire schedule and the fact is 8vs is on the decline at the moment.

Speaking of 8v8 on the decline, we have been planning to make the move that will keep us competitive. This is by forming a 6v team. The details are being layed out right now. However we all agree in order for the 6v team to be successful, we can not accept any partimers. The plan right now is to implement 2 teams. A leagued team, and the practice squad. The practice squad will allow players to participate should schedule allow. The leagued team will have to follow a strict schedule and attend atleast 90-100% of their events. Once this is fully implemented, we will make sure everyone is informed and is on board. Also this will require us to withdraw from all league competition since are strictly 8v8 at the moment.

STA Match tonight; New Member and Server Changes posted by: RoYaLe

Just a reminder STA will let us play our match vs TJ this week by adding an additional week to the schedule. If you have any medic achievements, you will be able to use them tonight in the match. IE. if you have the Crit gun; you can use it to take out their entire team. Also on a side note, we will be playing cp_well for next weeks STA finale. These two weeks are very important and definitely has playoff implications.

We had a new recruit tryout for us, MasterDana. He scored an amazing 30 pts in the tryout and peformed very well in the scrim. If you see MasterDana, make sure you say hi to a good ol west coast boy that has made the team.

Lastly, our server has been changed from CHI to DAL for better pings. I have done my research and confirmed that most of us do get a better ping in Dallas overall as a team. This change has been implemented immediately and IP information will be updated on the website.

Match postponed because of big update! posted by: RoYaLe

If you are still wasting your time on some nub server, or the achievements box map acting like a bunch of kids getting a new toy on christmas.. STOP, immediately. You dont have to thanks to the console command that will unlock everything. Please go to the forums and apply this immediately. This will also give us more time to concentrate on skills, instead of having everyone thats a HW going medic because of the new gun lol Either ways, we are looking forward to what this update has changed as far as clan play goes.

Our STA Match will be postponed. The word is that the schedule will be pushed back an entire week until new configs can be created to even the playing field. Some clans did play, but i m sure STA will figure out a way to realign the schedule. In TGL we do have a match against AW. They currently do not have 8 on the roster, so we will probabaly scrim tommorow. On Sunday we have a CAL exhibition vs NQA on cp_well. It should be a fun match. On Monday we can get serious again and play some cp_castle, our next STA map. We should know by the end of this week what STA wants to do.

CAL win, STA match and roster changes posted by: RoYaLe

We have finally figured out a way to win on Dustbowl, and no its not with our defense, it is with lots of O. We played BB to two full rds, and both tied 6-6, however what made the difference was the timelimits. We capped both rounds faster then BB did, and winning both by a 2-0 result. We improved to 4-1 in CAL, and there is one more exhibition left in the season.

In STA we will be facing another 4-4 clan TJ. This is a crucial matchup on desertfortress. We have not had good results on scrims, so everyone will need to be on point to pull this one off. The leaders have came up wih a plan, its just up to everyone to properly execute.

Over the weekend we have lost some key players to inactivity. Blackdevil has been plagued with personal issues which he will need to resolve. It might takes months, weeks, we will never know, but he requested to be inactive. z3ph, I m placing on inactive myself. he has made it clear that his schedule with coding fluctuates and sometimes he can not make events for weeks. This might be one of those weeks. Another note, Darkstar is going to also pursue a 6v6 clan, however he is still dedicated to WU, but not in a leadership role. Darkstar will still show up to all 8v8, he will also be playing 6v6 with his friends clan as well. We admire his dedication to his friendship. Good luck to everyone. Keep recruiting, and we will get a steady strong roster back in place.

Upcoming Matches, TGL Sign Ups and Promotion! posted by: RoYaLe

After finding out the dissapointing news that accepting two forfeit wins in CAL will result in playoff elimination, we will move forward and use our last few matches as an exhibition to some of the new recruits. The upcoming match will be against Bukake Baptism, a 3-3 clan in CAL. They have been tough against their opponents and on a map like dustbowl, anything can happen. We will need to bring our best on Sunday. On Tuesday, in STA we will be facing against Tj. The Jobbers have identical records with us with a 4-4 mark, and this match will have some playoff implications. On an unfamiliar map such as desert_fortress, we will need to bring our best to survive. Good luck and show up to all the scrims on Thurs and Monday.

Second of all, I had enough people in our line up to enter our team to active mode in TGL. We should be scheduled in a match by next Thursday. This is a pretty straight forward league, however just like CAL, you will have to follow the rules and run anti-cheat clients. More information will follow on the forum.

I also want to announce Darkstar to be promoted as Player Coordinator of the clan. He will be responsible of holding most of the tryouts, and also bringing in new recruits to the team. He does a great job of running countless 6v6, PUGs and random matches all day Friday and Saturday to get our clan's name out. I want to congratulate him on all this hardwork and a promotion. Wish him luck everyone!

Rev6 wins despite roster Mixup posted by: RoYaLe

The match against Rev6 was not something that went under the radar. We spent as much time as we can afford to practice on this new map. Unfortunately we never had the opportunity to put in place a strategy that our players were comfortable with. Our offense never got settled in and we were forced in our base in rd1 with our initial strat. Rev6 managed some incredible pressure and playing the right positions in the yard. With some tough defense we were able to hold them off 1-0, until a last minute defensive miscue and they were able to make it 2-0. In rd2 we had to gamble, and put it all on the line. We changed up our strategy to counter what they have in place, however instead of opening up a cap fest, most of our attacks were foiled. We did not make up the necessary captures to lose 13-1 in both rounds. Overall I was statisfied with our effort eventhough we made some mistakes. Due to the lack of preperation and implementing a correct strategy, it was too much to overcome. Ctf_smooth_b2 will probably be thrown out of STA for good. This has been a learning experience for all of us.

Following the match we did notice Rev6 used a player that was not registered on their website. I confronted the clan and got it cleared up that it was an actual player on their roster. I went ahead and posted the details of this on the forums as well.

On a side note, we are now signing up for TGL. Please go to the forums and make sure you followed the instructions and signed up to the team for TGL asap. We can start playing as early as next Thursday.

Also lastly, we are planning on implementing a new tryout system. I will post the details on the forums, and we will all get a chance to vote on it. Check that out as well.

CAL Drama; Big STA match posted by: RoYaLe

Our match today with Checkmate was forfeited due to Checkmate not having enough. It was unfortunate because we did have enough people on to play them. The details our outlined in the forums regarding this match, but WU was awarded the forfeit win.

I just want to remind us of how big the next STA match is. It is probably one of the best clans we have been scheduled with so far in STA. We will need to bring our best on a map we do not have any experience on. It is a tough task, but we will need to pull everything out to win this match. GL and make sure you show up to the scrims!

Upcoming week; Recruiting again! posted by: RoYaLe

This upcoming week in CAL we will be facing Checkmate! in a battle on ctf_mach4, a map which we have won on before. Also in STA we have a huge match up vs REV6 on smooth_b2. They are the defending Gold Champions. Thats all that really needs to be said and they are on a 3 game wining streak. So we will have to bring our best on this occasion.

Also I would like to remind everyone, go ahead and start pay attention to recruits. We are holding open tryouts again this weekend. We do have an opening on the team and we would like to fill it asap before the playoffs.

A great TF philospher once said,"... it does not matter what strategy or what class you use. As long as you have the right people, and the people that play it right." That came to my mind as I was designing our latest strat for dustbowl defense. In the OT round against GD on Tuesday, having a better defensive strategy did pay off. GD, a former top ten ranked clan on konspiracy was tough to play against, however with the right strategy, we can make up for the difference in 1on1 battles. Both teams played to a 6-6 tie in both rounds, however the difference was that the WU defense held GD much longer on some of the points, and the offense was just simply a ninja wrecking crew by being able to capture every single possible point by fragging and with some sneakyness. We manage to quick capture the second half points on 3 different occasions which made it a much easier match for our team and kept us well rested into the OT. In the OT it was no different, we were able to capture the flag 5:55 mark, which wasnt our best of the night but was enough time for the defense to gather up and defend the point for the win. When the clock hit 5:54 we knew the victory was ours and the team celebrated as some players still kept playing thinking it was not over. Final score was 14-13 (OT) win, and I want to congratulate everyone for the hard work they put in for this.

As long as we keep working hard, and show up to scrims, we will be in the upper tier of clans and become tough to play against. This is our first full season in STA and we are able to keep up with the league's best. This shows that we have a team that will be championship calibre in seasons to come. I will definitely try to schedule some scrims for Thursday and one before our CAL match on Sunday. Just a reminder, Sunday's map is our familiar mach4 ctf style play. We recently played this in STA, so I expect no slip ups. Good luck everyone!
